At the end of 2027, SAP will discontinue maintenance without additional costs and the further development of the predecessor software SAP ECC. This gives you enough time to take action - without having to act hastily.

This “public cloud” can only be used with the greenfield approach (new implementation). It is available via the SAP Business Technology Platform Extension Suite (side-by-side extensibility) with whitelisted APIs, for key users as an in-app or with on-stack development.
In a classic sense, on-premise means that software and hardware are installed and operated locally on site in a separate data center. Applications, databases and SAP systems are usually located there.
From a licensing perspective, we also speak of on-premise when SAP S/4HANA is hosted by a hyperscaler.
However, pure on-premise is a theoretical concept. In most cases, on-premise and cloud solutions are now interconnected and exchange data.
Today, data sources that are already in the cloud are being added. These include, for example, external databases for customer relationship management, social media or the data transferred by IoT applications.
